Write a social post or thread that stops the scroll and delivers real value. On social, attention is won or lost in the first line. Earn it with a strong hook, one clear idea, and a payoff — not engagement-bait.
The hook (the whole game)
The first line decides whether anyone reads the rest. Make it:
- Specific — a concrete number, result, or claim beats a vague setup.
- Tension or curiosity — a surprising truth, a contrarian take, a problem the reader has.
- About the reader, or a story they'll see themselves in.
Avoid fake-hook clichés ("Unpopular opinion:", "A thread 🧵", "Let that sink in") — they now signal low value.
The body
- One idea per post. Depth on a single point beats a shallow list of ten.
- Short lines, whitespace, plain language. Written for a phone, skimmed at a glance.
- Concrete over abstract — examples, specifics, a real story. Show the thing.
- For a thread: each post should stand on its own and pull the reader to the next. Front-load the value; don't make them wait for a payoff that never comes.
Close
End with a takeaway the reader keeps, or one genuine question/CTA — not "Agree? 👇" bait.
Rules
- Match the platform: LinkedIn = professional, story-driven, a little longer; X = punchy, fast, lower-formality.
- Value first. If it doesn't teach, entertain, or resonate, don't post it.
- Never fabricate stats or stories. Real and specific always outperforms impressive and fake.
Return the post or thread ready to publish. Note the platform it's written for.
